Rukgala Retreat is a small boutique hotel on the shores of the Victoria Lake with a focus on yoga and general good-living.

Rukgala We’d love to have you join us here to enjoy yoga classes in our beautiful Shala, wild swimming in the Victoria Lake, hikes up to Bambaragala, Sundowner walks up to Coconut Ridge, and soothing Ayurvedic Treatments.

Conceived from a passion for this very beautiful and still pretty unknown part of Sri Lanka, out of an empty old house we've fashioned something we see as an ideal sanctuary for those wanting an escape in the hills

Yoga Though a great spot for non-yogis too, Rukgala was born of wanting to create a space for large and small groups, practicing yoga in a beautiful, remote and peaceful location. Alongside a lovely Shala we’re working with some equally lovely people to offer a set of enriching, enlightening, and restorative yoga & meditation classes.

Inclusions

Kandy - Some days Kandy’s skies seem perpetually bruised, with stubborn mist clinging to the hills surrounding the city’s beautiful centrepiece lake. Delicate hill-country breezes impel the mist to gently part, revealing colourful houses amid Kandy’s improbable forested halo. In the centre of town, three-wheelers careen around slippery corners, raising a soft spray that threatens the silk saris worn by local women. Here’s a city that looks good even when it’s raining.
